Definition of fight or flight
The way an animal responds when stressed. The body becomes physiologically aroused in readiness to fight an aggressor, or alternately flee from danger

CALM!! Constructs pupils Stimulates salivation Slows heart rate Stimulates digestion
Stages of fight or flight
1-the amygalda identifies a threat and the hypothalamus communicates the threat to the sympathetic nervous system
2-message travels down the SNS to the adrenal medulla which releases adrenaline
3- adrenaline triggers fight or flight response which involves physical change eg increased heart rate or digestion decrease
4-once the adrenaline starts to wear off the PNS acts to bring body back to normal
Negative- can be neg effect on body
Repeated long term increase in blood pressure can cause long term blood vessel damage
