  • stimulates the adrenal cortex and release of cortisol in stress response
  • responsible for uterus contractions during child birth

  • adrenal medula is responsible for releasing adrenaline and noradrenaline (key in fight or flight)
  • adrenal cortex releases cortisol, stimulates release of glucose to provide body with energy

  • they respond to an increase of cortisol by reducing secretions of CRF
  • returns body back to normal level of cortisol
  • limits danger 2 the body :)

research has found that when an individual is exposed to high amounts of stress, there is an adverse affect on the endocrine system/
so more stress = more stress related illness
