A
- Fibroids
- DUB
- Not very effective for adenomyosis

Contraindications of UAE
A
- Recent genital tract infection
- Asymptomatic fibroids
- Pregnancy
- Wanting fertility- can cause early ovarian failure
- Consider myomectomy

A
- 80-90% asymptomatic after 1 year
- 40-70% reduction in fibroid volume
- 10-15% need hysterectomy in 3-5 years

- Need for hysterectomy
- No relief of symptoms
- Expulsion of fibroid

- Cost effective
- Spares hysterectomy in large amount of women
- Shorter hospital stay

Complications- short and long term
A
Short term:
- Pain
- Groin haematoma
- Arterial thrombosis
- Infection
Long term (>30days, more common):
- Vaginal discharge (very common)
- Fibroid expulsion
- Infection
- Amenorrhoea
