During the 1st stage how often should you monitor FH?
-Intermittent monitoring every 15 mins immediately after a contraction for at least one minute recorded as a single rate. record accels and decels.
What should the FH range be?
110-160bpm.
During the 2nd stage how often should you monitor the FH?
-Record every 5 minutes for at least 1 minute immediately after a contraction. Palpate women’s pulse still every 15 minutes to differentiate between mat pulse.
What does meconium stained liquor indicate?
Indicative of fetal distress
What does bloodstained liquor indicate?
Indicative of intrapartum haemorrhage/ abruption.
On admission or taking over should you do an abdominal palpation?
Yes
When should a vaginal examination be performed?
- At the onset of labour
- Offer four hourly
- To confirm full dilatation
