femur 3 Flashcards
1
Q
How should the leg be supported for a trauma lateromedial projection?
A
- Place support under the affected leg and knee and support the foot and ankle in a true AP position.
- Place the image receptor on edge against the medial aspect of the thigh to include the knee, with a horizontal X-ray beam directed from the lateral side
2
Q
What is the direction of the central ray for a trauma lateromedial projection?
A
Use a horizontal central ray at 90° to the femur and image receptor to the midpoint of the image plate.
3
Q
What should be included with the knee in the lateral image of the femur?
A
- Superimposed anterior surface of the femoral condyles,
- Patella in profile,
- Open patellofemoral space,
- The inferior surface of the femoral condyles should not be superimposed because of divergent rays.
3
Q
What should be shown with the hip included in the lateral image of the femur?
A
The opposite thigh should not be over the proximal femur and hip joint
, the greater trochanter should be superimposed over the distal femoral neck,
the lesser trochanter should be visible.
