what are the functions of the placenta?
when mature it secretes it’s own progesterone and estrogen, maintains endometrium, and feeds back to the hypothalamus preventing releases of FSH and LH to stop the cycle

gives c2 and nutrients to the baby
What is HCG?
it is released/secreted by the placenta soon after implantation, tells corpus luteum to continue progesterone secretion maintaining the endometrium
