feedback Flashcards
what is feedback
information based on observation given to students with the goal of helping them to improve their movement skill & performance
5 functions of feedback
- Provide info to learner about their performance
- show learners that we care about the quality of their response (want them to improve)
- express to learners that their focus & motivation should also be to improve
- maintaining a task-oriented & productive learning environment
- promote student understanding of concepts
10 types of feedback
evaluative vs. corrective negative vs. positive general vs. specific terminal vs. concurrent congruent vs. incongruent
evaluative vs. corrective feedback
evaluative: info regarding past performance
corrective: provides info about what to do/ not to do in future performance
Negative vs. Postive feedback
positive: info about what was good about the performance
Negative: info about what was not good in the performance
General vs. specific
general: good, nice work , well done
specific: good flow through on the hit
Terminal vs. Concurrent
(timing of feedback)
terminal: feedback given after the learners performance
concurrent: feedback that is given during performance of skill
Congruent vs. incongruent
congruent: gives info on performance/results directly related to what the learners have been asked to focus on
incongruent: givens info that may be important to the skill, but is NOT specifically related to the task focus
“you really got your feet into position that time”
evaluative
“try and follow through in your stroke”
corrective
“your follow through was nice & exaggerated”
postive
“you forgot the follow-through”
negative
“your still using the outside of your foot occasionally”
