Feedback Flashcards
whats the definition of feedback?
information provided during or after performance used to alter or persuade future performance. feedback is essential for learning to take place.
functions of feedback?
MRI
-Motivate performer to change future performance, for improvement
-Reinforce good things about performance
-Inform about any errors or things that need to be corrected
what is intrinsic feedback?
Intrinsic feedback
* from within the performer from sense organs within the body
* 3 types of intrinsic feedback: (kinaesthetic, touch, equilibrium)
* automomous performers have more accurate and reliable intrinsic feedback
what is extrinsic feedback?
feedback external from the performer
- from a coach
- helps performer gain a **veiw of what they need to improve on **
- it can be tangible (facts, figures, trophy) or non-tangible (advice, motivation) which will improve intrinsic feedback.
TWO MORE TYPES OF FEEDBACK WHICH ARE EXTRINSIC ARE :
-knowledge of results (tangible and terminal feedback)- information about the end result, gives indication to performer wether the skill was successful
- knowledge of performance (intrinsic or extrinsic and non-tangible) - how WELL the responce was performed NOT the end result. Looks at why shots went out and is looking at technique and how to improve more than the outcome.
whats positive feedback
reinforces skill learning by praising successful performances so they are repeated. It tells performer they are doing well and will motivate them.
whats negative feedback?
information about non-successful performances, causing a change to become more successful later.
- better for more experienced players as it clearly tells them which aspects need to be worked on.
- extrinsic
what is terminal feedback?
feedback after performance
what is concurrent feedback?
feedback during the performance
-intrinsic or extrinsic
- it is occuring all the time during performance
which feedback methods should be used for each stages of learning (cognitive, associative, autonomous)?
cognitive :
-EXTRINSIC feedback (knowledge of results, simple information and positive feedback)
associative :
- external and internal and knowledge of performance to form good habits
autonomous :
-INTRINSIC feedback (kinaesthetic) specific information, detailed, negative/critical
