A

2 major supp. system: vestibular & aud. apparatus.

Auditory nerve : connects s.canals & cochlea to the brain.

Vestibular - semicircular canals, sacule & Utricule.

Aud apparatus - known as cochlea, shape like snail shell.
Cochlea : scale vestibule, media & tympani. Btw s. media & tympani; Bastila membrane supp. organs of corti ( transducer). B. men consist of sensory & supp. cells.

A

all h. disabilities that ranges from mild to profound.

It encompasses who are deaf & hard to hearing.

To be h. imp means to have an impediment on the path of hearing to the extent that d aff person suffers distortion of perc. sound or totally lost out in the acquisition & proceeding of acoustic stimuli.

A

Kirk (1992) is when hearing loss is to great that it impedes dev. of speech & language.
Mykleburst(1964) is when sense of hearing is non-functional to ordinary day activities
Firsina (1974) when h. loss is great to an extent that it precludes the understanding of speech by ear alone
