FCOM/FCTM Flashcards
IAN Approaches should only be used if there is one of the following features:
List?
Published GP angle on the legs page for the final approach segment.
RWxx waypoint at the approach end of the RW.
A missed approach waypoint at the approach end of the RW! MXxx.
When is an IAN approach not recommended?
When an approach has a visual manoeuvre segment that is not in the FMC database.
When do you set GA alt on an IAN?
Glide path capture
VNAV to be used only if one of the following is available?
Published GP angle on the legs page for the final approach segment.
RWxx waypoint at the approach end of the RW.
A missed approach waypoint at the approach end of the RW! MXxx.
LNAV is the recommended roll mode for which type of approaches ?
RNAV,GPS,VOR,NDB
Back course ILS roll mode to be used ?
LNAV or B/CRS
2 NM before FAF , what modes are permissible for the DA or MDA to be set?
ALT ,VNAV PATH or VNAV ALT
2 NM before FAF, what is to be checked ?
Appropriate DA
Verify VNAV or select it
Verify speed intervention or select it
When can you set missed approach altitude on a VNAV approach?
Below 300 from the missed approach altitude.
When do you call for forward idle?
Safe stop assured and taxi speed reached .
How long during Electrical Power down must you wait before turning off the APU?
APU or both ground power receptacles ..10 Mins.
With one receptacle…..22 minutes
What colour will an un annunciated checklist be?
White ,even if conditions are present.
How can you add thrust during an engine failure ?
1) push Thrust levers forward
At 400 feet ATHR will reengage and give TO THR …
Disengage AT and reengage when clean to set CON
2) You can select TOGA provided :
Above 200
Above V2
A/P engaged
LNAV and VNAV may be reinstated as required.
Alternatively you can clean up using FCTM option:
Leave mode as TOGA AND SELECT –Flaps up manoeuvre speed.
In an extreme climb limited condition , a Takeoff without VNAV armed may result in….
After engine failure, low frequency pitch oscillations may occur, with possible height loss. Overall climb gradient will be positive.
Flaps up ,one engine inop with no VNAV, how do you accelerate.
FLCH
VERIFY CON Thrust
SELECT ENG out promp
Climb to safe height
When can you call for the check lists following engine failure ?
Flaps up and THRUST SET!
MAX bank angle after engine failure ?
15 deg up to V2+10
25 by V2+20. If LNAV engaged or HDG self in Auto
Why is a selected fixed derate considered an operating limit?
Take off speeds consider VMCG and VMCA at ONLY the fixed derate level.
Max bank angle 2 engines with take off flap?
30 deg with V2+15
Why can’t you shut both engines down and then only start one up to taxi in?
All EMPs and nose wheel steering will not work as required for taxi if only one engine is started after shutting down both engines. Both engines need to be started to allow hydraulic systems to work normally.
Aircraft returns to a ground state .
Brake temp advisory message….what threshold limit ?
5.0
Removed below 3.0
When is Taxi Brake Release active
Ground speed less than 70 knots • Autobrakes off • Less than heavy manual brake application
When does BTMS reading need action?
More than 7.2
More than 5.0 difference on same brake
What’s the difference between a STATUS and an EICAS MSG?
Status shows lack of redundancy
EICAS a loss of function
Altitude trend vector show altitude in how long ?
6 seconds
RAT provides hyd pressure to which system ?
Centre
-8 rates of descent clean?
1000 fpm, 2000 with brake
-9 rates of descent clean?
1200 , 2400 with brake.
decel times and distances?
9nm from 330 to 250. 4 from 250 to clean. TWO MINUTES.
5 for all with SB
Aim for clean to 12 nm, 8 with a base turn.
