Faults and Isolation Cocks Flashcards

1
Q

What can cause uncontrolled brake applications

A
  • any emergency plunger activated
  • any PBC in emergency
  • Faulty safety systems- AWS, ATP, TPWS, DSD, DVD
  • Low main res air detected, (Below 5.5 bar)
  • Master switch not in Forward/ Reverse
  • Traction (Door) interlock
  • Drum switch not opening/ closing, (could be because of train division)

Q

When would Air suspension isolating cock (ASIC) be used?

A
  • if there is an air leak from the suspension, using the ASIC will reduce the risk of losing Main Res pressure
(if isolated, train must be taken out of service at the next available station- must not exceed 30mph)
