What indications does a driver receive when a PAU ha been activated?
- audible alarm
- passenger alarm light will illuminate
- PAU/ CFA comms panel will flash (steady when pressed)
- location of PAU will show on PIS (ensure you make note of the location before putting the handset down)
- brake application (overridden by pressing yellow ball next to DSD pedal)
[note: no indication of location will display on TMS, and no ext. BIL light on activated vehicle]
What are a drivers actions when a PAU is activated?
[ PAU activated- indications received ]
- press yellow override button to cancel the alarm and emergency brake application
- push PAU/CFA button on comms panel, use the handset to talk the passenger- press to talk/ release to listen- “This is your driver speaking, please state your emergency.”
(Note location on PIS) - after you have finished conversation, at the next suitable location, contact the signaller and inform them of PAU activation and advise them you will need to go back. - request assistance/ emergency services if necessary
- make a PA about delay
- go back to the vehicle and reset PAU with T-Key
- go back to cab and check alarm light extinguished. Contact signaller
Call For Aid: what are the indications and drivers actions. Where are these located?
Exactly the same indications and actions as a PAU activation
Located in the PTOSLW- 2 in the seating area, 1 in the toilet
(The CFA in the toilet will NOT initiate an emergency brake application)
What are the indications of an egress activation?
- audible alarm
- Red Fault indication on TMS with location
- passenger alarm light will illuminate
- brake application will be initiated
[Note: egressed door can only open when speed is under 5mph, and must be reset before the train can continue]
What are a drivers actions if an egress activation?
[Egress activated- indications received]
- press yellow override button to cancel alarm and emergency brake application
- check TMS for activation location
- make a PA to passengers to advise of activation and this will be dealt at the next station and advise them to stand clear of the doors
(If the train is stationary- REC call if you suspect some has exiting the train onto running lines) - at the next suitable location, secure cab, contact signaller and make a PA and advise about delays
- go back and reset the egress handle with T-Key
- check the doors operate normally by observing door control panel buttons illuminate an then test the doors
- if fault with the doors you may need to lock them out
