  1. What is Filtering?
A

It allows you to hide and select ROWS based on criteria that you define. It is a way of searching for informaiton.

A

Project: Filters, or the Filters button in the toolbar

A

By default, FILTERS LOOK AT THE INFORMATION IN THE ACTIVITIES THAT ARE CURRENTLY VISIBLE AND THOSE THAT ARE HIDDEN.

  1. How do you restrict filters to information that is visible?
A

Project: Filters –>Define–>Edit–>”expand all prior to filtering” and “restore all prior to filtering”

  1. Filters are defined in the Define Filter Dialog. You can think of the filter’s criteria as questions the filter asks of each activity. Each question has three parts:
A

a. A column in which to search
b. A way of comparing the column data to values
c. A value to look for.

A

Project:Filters–>Define–>New–>In the APPLY area, select COLUMN/VALUE. In the ROW Options area, select MATCHING ROWS ONLY. Make the rest of the choices and click out.

  1. What if you had already filterd the schedule, and only certain lines are showing?
A

Because the RESTORE ALL PRIOR TO FILTERIN option is selected by default in the Define Filter dialog, ALL ROWS ARE RESTORED FROM THE LAST FILTER BEFORE THE NEW FILTER IS APPLIED.
