Define: Aircraft

A

A device that is used or intended to be used for flight in the air.

A

An engine driven fixed wing aircraft heavier than air, that is supported in flight by the dynamic reaction of the air against its wings.

A

the height above the Earth’s surface of the lowest layer of clouds or obscuring phenomena that is reported as broken, overcast, or obscuration, and is not classified as thin or partial.

Define: Controlled Airspace

A

Controlled airspace is a generic term that covers class A, Class B, Class C, Class D, and Class E airspace.

A

The indicated airspeed of an aircraft, corrected for position and instrument error.

Calibrated airspeed is equal to true airspeed in standard atmosphere at sea level.

A

A level of constant atmospheric pressure related to a reference datum of 29.92 inches of mercury.

Stated in three digits that represents hundreds of feet. EX. 250 = 25,000

What documents a pilot needs to have.

What is FAR 61.56

A

Flight Review

(biannual flight review in CLIMB)

includes one hour of flight time and one hour of ground flight instruction
- 24th calendar month unless:
1. passed any of the following need not accomplish the flight review process.
a. pilot proficiency check or practical test conducted by an examiner, an approved pilot check airman, for a pilot certificate, rating or operating privilege.
b. practical test conducted by an examiner
c. accomplished any phase of an FAA sponsored flight proficiency program
d. student pilot undergoing further training
e. a flight instructor who has within a given period renewed the certificate

What is FAR 61.57

A

Recent flight experience: pilot in command

No person may act as a pilot in command of an aircraft carrying passengers or of an aircraft certificated for more than one pilot flight crewmember unless that person has made at least three takeoffs and three landings within the previous 90 days and:
a. the person acted as the sole manipulator of controls
b. the required takeoffs and landings were performed in an aircraft of the same category class and type.
c. the three takeoffs and landings must be to full stop day or night but for the purposes of night operations the flight must have taken place 1 hour after sunset and 1 hour before dawn.
