What is family centred care and its principles
Family centred care is a principle of care in which the newborns family is involved in collaborating with the medical team to make decisions surrouding their infants xcare, and is involved in co-delivering care to their infant to promote bonding and development of their parental relationship
Outline some family centred care strategies which can be implemented in SCN and their rationale/benefit
Educate parents on carrying out cares, nappy changes, feeds, etc and encourage them to codeliver them
Ensure frequent updates and education surrounding the infants current condition
Advocate for involvement and collaboration in all care decisions
Kangaroo care and S2S
Providing frequent emotional support to parents and connecting them with resources eg. social work or counselling
Rooming in facilities
Education around conditions and procedures relevant to baby
What are some benefits of family centred care
