FAM Notes Flashcards
Alternate Criteria (15.3.2)
Alternate Criteria
30 min buffer if not TAF3 or TTF with trend
- more than sct below alt minima
- vis or prob vis below alternate criteria
- Xwind or downwind greater than max (inc gusts)
- TS or their associated severe turbulence (INTER TS 60 min payload permitting)
- precip that could result in intended RW being contaminated and LDG Disp/Enroute Factored dist exceeds LDA
Adequate/EDTO Criteria (14.5.5 + 14.2.1)
EDTO criteria based on
- forecast ceiling and visibility
- forecast Xwind (inc gusts) for expected landing RW + weight + OEI
(RCAM 2 = 12kts or Dry = 40kts)
- landing distance at expected weight
- Disregard less than Prob40
- must account for INTER/TEMPO
Takeoff Alternate (14.5.5 + 14.2.1)
Takeoff Alternate
- WX below lowest useable landing minima, or
- Operational consids would preclude a return
- Above Adequate/EDTO
Forecast Buffering (15.4.4)
- 30 min buffer if not TAF3 or TTF with trend
- Constelation will put 30 min buffer always to PROB30/PROB40 (even in TAF3)
Fuel Definitions Ch -16
FRF
- 30 min @ 1500’ (approx 2.0T)
- nominated FRF = 2.5T
Contingency
- 5% trip fuel from DPA to dest
- 5% trip fuel if no DPA
- not less than 5 min @ 1500’ (350kg)
- capped at 1200kg
Approach Fuel
- 200kg
Min endurance over destination
- 70 min or 90 min JFK/LHR post 0600LT
New OFP if ZFW increases by more than 3000kg
Fuel DP’s Ch - 16
CPE
- most fuel critical ETP between 2 EDTO Alternates
- Trip fuel + 15min @ 1500’ + APU burn + WX holding
- Inflight no need to divert if less than planned fuel if inflight fuel rqmts met but must consider actions if failure @ CPE
DPA
- waypoint (not past TD) for A/C to divert to Cat A or B airport with inflight requirements
- inflight must have not less than 5% trip fuel DPA - Dest or 5 min @ 1500’ (350kg)
DPD
- most fuel critical point from which same fuel rqd to proceed to 2 Cat A/B/C/E
- Trip fuel (depres) + 15min @ 1500’ + APU burn + WX holding
DP1
- most fuel critical point from which same fuel rqd to proceed to 2 Cat A/B (or C if EDTO)
- Trip fuel (OEI) + 15min @ 1500’ + WX holding
Medical Diversions (15.13.4)
- No diversions to Cat C or E airports due passenger illness
Terrain (15.11.2)
- RNP4 + 8nm either side of track
- 2000’ clearance above 5000’
- 1000’ clearance below 5000’
- use Jepp Grid MORA if off track
- requirement to have both GPS servicable when operating between Asia and Europe
RVSM (15.7)
- no overshoot/undershoot by more than 150’
- greater than 300’ requires a report
Minimum Cabin Crew
- 8
- If boarding/transit and refuelling 1 at each door pair
- No refuelling 1 in each zone where there are passengers
Cabin Baggage on Seat
- not an exit row
- should be window seat with passenger in next seat
- should not impede viewing of safety video or limit bassinet access
Passengers with Medical Conditions
- If have medical clearance will show “MEDA” on PIL
- If any doubt as to fitness to fly CSM to contact MedLink
CPAP with Prior Approval
- “MEDA” on PIL
- DG letter if lithium powered
- Must not be an exit row
- Must be stowed for taxi, T/O and landing
- Crew to advise power not guaranteed and keep clear of seat mechanisms
CPAP without Prior Approval
- If lithium powered need to check meets DG requirements
- If doesn’t meet requirements or Wh cannot be determined contact DAM or IOC
- Can’t use power outlet
Oxy Bottles
- Cylinders larger than “C” require LAME fitting
- Prior approval from Q Med required to use inflight
- If not to be used inflight requires operator approval
- Flights to US can only carry in cabin for use on that sector
