  • Trend vector 10 seconds
  • IAS to Mach @ .84M
  • Mach to IAS @ 310kts
  • Red Bricks = Vmo/Mmo or flap speed
  • High speed amber band = manouvre margin to high speed buffet
  • Thrust assymetry indicated when low speed and asymmetry detected. Normally below stick shaker.
  • Pitch Limit Indicator = pitch angle where stall warning/stick shaker will operate. Shows when flaps not up or IAS near stick shaker speed.
  • Altitude Trend Vector = 6 seconds
  • Landing Altitude Indications when 400nm from departure or half way to destination

Crew Alert System Inhibits (FCOM 15.20.36)

A
  • Master caution + sound alerts inhibited on ground + FCS cutoff
  • Engine start inhibits from engine start to START
  • Status cue inhibits from engine start to cruise altitude or 30 minutes after takeoff or 1 engine shutdown
  • Master Caution + EICAS Advisories inhibited after 80kts to 400’ RA or 20 seconds after liftoff. If RTO after 80kts inhibited down to 75 kts
  • All coms except CABIN ALERT inhibited from 1 eng T/O thrust to 400’/20 seconds
  • Master Warning inhibited from V1 or rotate to 400’ or 25 seconds after inhibit began

  • Approach Idle only in flight with F25 or F30. Maintained for 5 sec after TD or reversers deployed. Greater thrust.
  • Icing Idle when EAI on
  • Ice Crystal Anti-ice above 30 000’ for at least 30 min if ICI detected. ICA terminates if A/C descends below 28 500’

EEC Modes

A

Normal Mode and Alternate Mode
- Alternate Soft mode thrust doesn’t change. A/T remains engaged.
- Thrust protection not provided in alternate mode.
EEC Provides
- N2 overspeed protection
- Thrust ramping during takeoff. Max thrust may not be available until reaching 65 kts
- Thrust Control Malfunction Accommodation shuts down engine on ground when thrust idle and eng not decelerating
- Thrust Asymmetry Protection limts thrust on operating engine when airspeed decreases below V2 on takeoff or Vref on go-around

  • MAP route cyan before MAP then magenta after MAP or go-around

- Fwd primary heating via Fwd Equipment cooling. Secondary mode electric heater
- Bulk electric heating
- Aft heating via Aft Equipment cooling (no animals)

A

Overspeed protection
- trim inhibited + control force twice normal force when above Vmo/Mmo
Stall Protection
- trim inhibited + higher control fore at speed from amber band to 20k below amber band (depending on height)
Elevator Feel
- control force increases with increasing IAS + deflection
Tail Strike Protection
- decreases deflection if tail strike iminent. No feedback to pilot
Hybrid Laminar Flow Control
- 2 doors in Vertical Stabiliser provide negative pressure to leading edge to reduce drag

Asymmetry Compensation
- during reverse thrust asymmetry or takeoff in crosswinds/gusty conditions FCS attempts to maintain zero yaw
Yaw Damping
Gust suppression
- uses flaperons and elevators to improve ride quality
- only in normal mode with A/P engaged in Alt hold or VNAV.

Ch 9 - Spoilers + Protections

A

Autodrag
- ailerons and 2 outermost spoilers deflected upwards to assist glideslope capture when on/above path, F25/30 and thrust idle. Removed below 500’
Landing Attitude modifier
- increases pitch attitude with land flaps at higher speed

Ch 9 - Flaps/Slats + Protections

A

Flap Load relief
- prevents flap extension beyond 5/15/17/18/20/25 until airspeed below limit speed
Slat Load Relief (Secondary mode only)
- IAS above 240 kts with slats fully extended slats retract to mid position. Return to full when speed below 240 kts
Slat Autogap and Pregap
- Auotgap only in primary mode, IAS below 240 kts and high AoA. Slats extended to full until AoA decreases.
- Pregap only in secondary mode, when flap lever is NOT up and IAS less than 240 kts. Slats remain in full until flap lever up or IAS above 240 kts
Cruise Flaps
- moves flaps, ailerons, flaperons and spoilers to reduce drag.
- only available above 25 000’ and between .54M and .87M
- F/F increase by approx 1% (Todd Brouwer)
