Approach to Stall or Stall Recovery
Initiate Recovery
- smoothly nose down elevator to reduce AoA until buffet or stick shaker stops
Continue Recovery
- Roll shortest direction to wings level
- Advance thrust as needed
- Retract Speedbrakes
- Don’t change gear or flap except
—- - During liftoff and flaps up call for F1
Complete Recovery
- Check airspeed and adjust thrust as needed
- Establish pitch attitude (Happy place?)
- Return to desired flight path
- Re-engage autoplot and autothrottle if desired
Rejected Takeoff (Capt)
Without delay
- simultaneously close thrust levers, disengage A/T and max manual brakes or verify operation of RTO
- monitor system performance and apply manual brakes if AUTOBRAKES msg or deceleration not adequate
- Apply reverse thrust up to max, consistant with conditions
- Verify SB extended
- Continue max braking until stopping is assured
Once stopping assured
- start movement of reverse levers to reach reverse idle before taxi speed
- after engines are at reverse idle, move reverse thrust levers to full down
Rejected Takeoff (F/O)
Verify actions
- Thrust levers closed
- A/T disengaged
- Max brakes applied
- Reverse thrust applied
- call S/B up or not up
- reversers normal or no reverse appropriate eng
- Autobrakes
- Any omissions
- 60 kts
- Advise tower and cabin once stopped
GPWS
- Disconnect Autopilot
- Disconnect Autothrottle
- Aggressively apply max thrust
- Simultaneously wings level + 20 NU
- Verify SB are retracted
- If terrain remains a threat continue to PLI or stick shaker/buffet
- Don’t change gear or flap
- Monitor radio alt for terrain separation
- When clear of terrain decrease pitch attitude and accelerate
- After recovery check MSA or LSALT
Windshear (Manual)
- Disconnect Autopilot
- Push TOGA switch
- Aggressively apply max thrust
- Disconnect Autothrottle
- Simultaneously roll wings level and pitch to 15 NU
- Verify SB down
- follow TOGA guidance if available
- Don’t change gear or flap config
- Monitor vertical speed and altitude
- Do not attempt to regain airspeed until windshear no longer a factor
Windshear (Auto)
- Push TOGA switch
- Verify TOGA annunciation
- Verify GA thrust
- Verify SB retracted
- Monitor system performance
- Don’t change gear or flap config
- Monitor vertical speed and altitude
- Do not attempt to regain airspeed until windshear no longer a factor
Nose High UA
- Recognise/Confirm/Breathe
- Disconnect AP + AT
- Nose down elevator to achieve nose down pitch
- Trim if needed
- Reduce thrust if needed
- Roll if needed
Approaching horizon - wings level
- Check IAS and adjust thrust
- Establish pitch attitude
Nose Low UA
- Recognise/Confirm/Breathe
- Disconnect AP + AT
- Recover from stall if needed
- Roll shortest direction to wings level
- Apply nose up elevator
- Apply nose up trim if needed
- Adjust thrust and drag if needed
Happy Place
- wheels on horizon
- FL + 50 (ie F200 = 20+50 = 70%)
Re-engagement after Stall or UA
- F/D off then on
- Push ALT
- A/P engage
- Set MCP SPD
- A/T ARM sw on
- A/T engage. Push SPD
- Read and understand FMA
