A

A

What is the ames room?

A

A tapezoid-shaped room designed to create an illusion through a peephole using monocular depth cues (Looks like a normal room, however if people stand on different sides of the room their size changes)
-Shape consistency is maintained
-Size consistency fails

  • Reinforced by top-down processing if the individual is from a country where rectangular rooms are expected.

What is Apperceptive agnosia?

A

The difficulty in perceiving visual information despite the intact mental understanding of what objects look like
- Inability to identify objects is caused by difficulty in perceiving form or visual elements
- Connected the parietal and occipital lobe
- Unable to draw or copy a drawing of the stimuli and unable to name

A

The ability to process and perceive certain stimuli and draw or copy but not name drawn stimulus.
- Lesions in the temporal lobe
- Able to translate perception into recognition
- Cannot link previous experience to objects
