A

Genetics can cause:
Fragile x - nearly all people with fragile x will have autism
Down’s syndrome - is genetic, will cause delayed development and vocab will grow slower as will grammatical understanding. They will also have difficulty producing words?May also have autism.
FoxP2 - associated with stammering
Cntnap2- associated with autism

How can physical abilities affect language development?

A
Craniofacial difficulties (cleft palate, apert syndrome, digeorge syndrome) . Alter vocal tract so babies cannot mimic speech, or produce certain speech sounds.
Mobility difficulties (spino bifida, muscular dystrophies, cerebral palsy).
May affect play and interaction opportunities
