The physical or human features that help distinguish it from another place. This splits into two factors: endogenous and exogenous.

What do exogenous factors involve?
A
A place’s relationship with outside places. This is shown by the movement or flow of people, money/investment, resources and ideas across a space.

What do endogenous factors involve?
A
A local demographic and physical geography of a place that help shape its unique character.

What are agents of change?
A
People who impact a place through living, working or trying to improve a place. Examples are residents, communal groups, corporate entities, central and local governments and the media.
