Describe near and far places.
Near and far places can refer to a literal geographical distance between places or it can refer to the emotional connections to a particular place. Some places feel more familiar than others partly due to personal experience, but also because of frequent representational exposure.
What is experienced place and media place?
Experienced places are those places that a person has spent time in, whereas media places are those that the person has only read about or seen in film. The ‘reality’ of a place can be different to what is portrayed in the media.
How does visiting a place effect place?
Visiting a place will give you a much better understanding of that place through lived experience. ‘Culture shock’ is often experienced.
What is the information age?
The information age bombards us with images. Often these contrast PS maps and cartographic representations. Their purpose and target audience differ.
