Q

How do catalysts effect rate of reaction?

A

Catalysts increase rate of reaction as they provide a different pathway for the reaction that has a lower the activation energy

Q

Core practical - investigate the effect of concentration on rate of reaction (eg. Sodium thiosulfate + hydrochloric acid)

A

In this reaction a white precipitate will be produced, making the solution go cloudy and covering the cross on the tile under the flask. We find that as the concentration of sodium thiosulfate increases, the mean time for the cross to disappear decreases (inversely proportional)
