Facial pain condition commonly associated with MS
Trigeminal neuralgia
Recurrent attacks of facial pain, lasting a couple of seconds, with a stabbing/shooting character, often brought on by eating/shaving/talking/brushing teeth
Trigeminal neuralgia
- triggers are actions that compress the trigeminal nerve
Headache (usually temporal or occipital), progressive in nature, with associated systemic symptoms
Temporal/giant cell arteritis
Recurrent, severe, unilateral headaches, typically located around one eye occurring daily for a period of weeks in the year. Often eye symptoms present (tears, conjunctival injection, eyelid swelling)
Cluster headaches
Headaches lasting for 4-72 hours, exacerbated by stress, lack of sleep, cheese/wine, chocolate
Migraine
Headaches associated with fever, neck stiffness, photophobia
Meningitis
