What are the two different types of finishes.
Mechanical Finishes and chemical finishes.

Raising, shearing or cropping, calendaring, shrinking, embossing, pleating, pressing.
What is ‘raising’?
Teasing the fabric surface with fine wires to produce a fluffy surface, soft handle and warm fabric.
What is ‘shearing’?
Removes short hairs from smooth fabrics or makes a pile weave level.
What is ‘calendaring’?
Smoothing and compacting with hard heavy rollers. It also improves the lustre.
What is ‘shrinking’?
Shrinking is when the fabric is shrunk so that it won’t be shrunk again in the future.
