FA - Forces Flashcards
What does force =
Mass x acceleration
What is newtons measure in?
1N = 1kg x 1ms2
Types of forces
Tensile - pulling
Comprehensive - acting on internal structure
Contact - friction etc
Non contact - electromagnetism
What are :
Colinear forces
Resultant forces
Net forces
Concurrent forces
-same line of action or opposition direction
- vector addition of 2 or more forces
- vector additions of all the external forces acting on an object
- forces acting through the same point but not in the same line - resultant forces depends on magnitude and angle e.g. rugby tackle
Name newtons Laws
1st - law of inertia - resistance of a body to change in its motion
2nd - law of acceleration - external forces cause acceleration
3rd - law of action reaction - equal yet opposite
How to work out momentum
Mass x velocity
