Full, but not prominent. Dark brown or brown, never light, but in the case of liver, liver roan, and liver and white, dark hazel to harmonise with coat; with expression of intelligence and gentleness but wide awake, bright and merry; rims tight.
Cocker Spaniel
Bright, mild and expressive. Colour ranging between hazel and dark brown, the darker the better. In liver beltons only, a lighter eye acceptable. Eyes oval and not protruding.
English Setter
Medium size, almond shaped, not prominent nor sunken, well set in (not showing haw), alert, kind expression. Dark hazel. Light eyes undesirable.
English Springer Spaniel
Of medium size, neither protruding nor deep set. The ideal colour is dark brown. Eyelids tight fitting.
German Shorthaired Pointer
Dark brown, set well apart, dark rims.
Golden Retriever
Dark brown, bright. Neither deep nor prominent, set sufficiently under brows, showing keen, intelligent expression.
Gordon Setter
Same distance from occiput as from nostrils, bright and kindly in expression. Either hazel or brown according to colour of coat. Neither bold nor staring, not looking down the nose.
Pointer
Hazel or dark brown, round, slight prominence, and without haw.
Irish red and white Setter
Moderately large almond shaped eyes, obliquely set. Not protruding. Amber to light brown in colour. May change in different light settings.
Murray River Retriever
Dark hazel to dark brown, not too large, preferably like an unshelled almond in shape, set level (not obliquely), under brows showing kind, intelligent expression.
Irish Setter
Large, but never exaggerated, rounded in shape filling the socket and set fairly well apart. The colour of the iris ranges from ochre to hazel and dark brown depending on the colour of the coat. Eyelids are close fitting and the colour of the eye-rims ranges from light to dark brown. Eyelashes very well developed. Look alert, expression keen and lively.
Lagotto Romagnolo
Semi-lateral position with a soft and submissive expression, neither deep set nor prominent. Eyes fairly large, eyelids oval-shaped and close fitting (no entropion or ectropion). The iris is of a more or less dark ochre or brown colour depending on the coat colour.
Bracco Italiano
Hazel or dark, medium size, not prominent, nor sunken, nor showing haw.
Welsh Springer Spaniel
Amber colour, dark to pale, with intelligent expression. Sky-blue in puppies. Round, set barely slanting. Lids well fitting.
Weimaraner
As dark as possible, neither too deep set nor protruding, with an alert, lively expression. Eyerims well pigmented and close fitting.
