Eye Flashcards
Anatomy- Sclera
The white of the eye, a firm fibrous membrane that maintains the shape of the eye
Anatomy - Cornea
Transparent layer that continues the membrane around the eye
Anatomy- Choroid
Lies between the sclera and the retina. It is rich in blood vessels to nourish the retina
Anatomy - Ciliary Body
muscle controlling the size and thickness of the lens. Responsible for secreting aqueous fluid
Anatomy - Iris
The muscle that alters the size of the pupil to regulate the amount of light entering the eye
Anatomy - Pupil
The hole that allows light to enter the inner eye
Anatomy - Lens
Allows the eye to focus on objects near and in the distance
Anatomy - Retina
Located near the optic nerve. Receives and converts light into nerve signals
Anatomy - Aqueous Fluid
fluid filling the anterior chamber of the eye to supply the cornea with essential nutrients
Anatomy - Vitreous Body
clear, transparent, jelly like substance that maintains intraocular pressure (IOP).
