Eye Flashcards
Superior Rectus: O
Common tendinous ring
Superior Rectus: I
Superior aspect of Orbit posterior to sclerocorneal junction
Superior Rectus: N
Oculomotor Nerve (CN III)
Superior Rectus: A
Elevates orbit (superiorly eye – looks up)
Inferior Rectus: O
Common tendinous ring
Inferior Rectus: I
Inferior aspect of Orbit posterior to sclerocorneal junction
Inferior Rectus: N
Oculomotor Nerve (CN III)
Inferior Rectus: A
Depresses orbit (Inferiorly rotates eye – looks down)
Lateral Rectus: O
Common tendinous ring (around optic nerve)
Lateral Rectus: I
Lateral aspect of orbit posterior to sclerocorneal junction
Lateral Rectus: N
Abducent Nerve (CN VI)
Lateral Rectus: A
Abducts orbit (laterally rotates eye – looks out)
Medial Rectus: O
Common tendinous ring
Medial Rectus: I
Medial aspect of orbit posterior to sclerocorneal junction
Medial Rectus: N
Oculomotor Nerve
CN III
Medial Rectus: A
Adducts orbit (medially rotates eye – looks in)
Superior Oblique: O
Body of Sphenoid and passes through Trochlea
Superior Oblique goes through Trochlea before attaching to the eye
Superior Oblique: I
Posterosuperiorly on lateral aspect of orbit
Superior Oblique: N
Trochlear Nerve (CN IV)
Superior Oblique: A
Abducts, depresses and medially rotates orbit on axis (simultaneously)
Inferior Oblique: O
Anterior part of floor of Orbit
Inferior Oblique: I
Posterosuperiorly on lateral aspect of Orbit
Sclera deep to lateral Rectus muscle
Inferior Oblique: N
Oculomotor Nerve (CN III)
Inferior Oblique: A
Abducts, elevatesand laterally rotates Orbit on axis
