They see family issues as issues that only concern the family. Serious issues, like domestic violence, child abuse, inequality, etc. have been historically treated outside the state, legal, or police jurisdiction
Symbolic Interactionism on Marriage and Family
Mother, father, etc. have meaning and are no longer rigidly assigned as the “breadwinner” or “homemaker”. Families are groups that have role players or “actors” that come together and act out their parts to construct their family
