What are the uses of External Coaptation? (3)
A
- to stabilise fragments & eliminate forces acting on the fracture (allows early weight bearing)
- reduce or prevent swelling
- protects the wound

What is the difference between synthetic and non synthetic secondary layers?
A
synthetic is more permeable but can cause skin reactions
non synthetic is very permeable but no skin reaction

A
temporary support and swelling management

A
Only to be used for fractures distal of the patella and elbow
