Extenal Male Genitalia Flashcards
List layers of scrotum
- Skin
- Superficial fascia: superficial fatty layer is replaced by dartos muscle, deep membranous layer (Colle’s fascia)
- External spermatic fascia
- Cremaster muscle & fascia
- Internal spermatic fascia
- Loose areolar tissue
Scrotal septum lacks…..layer from layers of scrotal sac
Skin
Dartos muscle is supplied by……..
Sympathetic fibers reaching it through genital branch of genitofemoral n
Describe nerve supply of skin of scrotum
- Ant 1/3 is supplied by L1 via: a) ilioinguinal n, b) genital branch of genitofemoral n
- Post 2/3 is supplied by S3 via scrotal nerves (from pudendal n) & perineal branch of posterior cutaneous nerve of the thigh
Describe blood supply & lymph drainage of scrotum
BS: superficial & deep external pudendal (from femoral), cremasteric branch of inf epigastric art, scrotal branches of internal pudendal art
LD: end in suoerficial inguinal LNs
Posterior border of testes is related to……., while ant border, med&lat surafces are related to……..
Epididymis & vas deferens
Tunica vaginalis
Upper pole of testes provides attachment to ……& is related to…….
Spermatic cord
Appendix of testis
Epididymis is separated from post border by……..
Sinus of epididymis
The proximal part of processus vaginalis forms…..in adult
Vestiges of processus vaginalis
……..is a dense, white fibrous coat covering testes, while……..is the innermost vascular coat of testis.
Tunica albuginra
Tunica vasculosa
Tunica albugenia is thickened at……border, forming……, that sends septa dividing testis into…..
Post
Mediastinum testis
200-300 lobules
Each lobule of testis contains…….that form……which break into……., & give rise to…….. which forms……
2 thin highly convoluted somniferous tubules
1 straight somnineferous ductules
Rete testis
Vasa efferentia
Head of epididymis
Describe arterial supply of testis & epididymis
- Testicular artery, branch from abdominal aorta
- Artery of vas deferens: a branch from superior vesical art
- Cremastric artery
Veins emerging from testis form……
Paminiform plexus
Describe LD of testis & epididymis
Pre-aortic & lateral aortic LNs
Sympathetic fibers of testis are connected to…..segemnt
10th thoracic
How to identify the side of testis?
- Edidifymis is post to testis
- Vas deferens arises from tail of epididymis & lies posteromedially
- Sinus of epididymis is directed laterally
Mention factors heat loss & gain in testis
Loss: very vascular scrital skin which is rich in sweat glands, absence of subcutaneous glands, relaxation of dartos muscle in hot weather leads to smooth & elongated scrotal skin with inc its surface area
Gain: contraction of dartos muscle that leads to corrugated and short scrotal skin with dec its surface area, contraction of cremaster muscle elevates testis near body
List parts of epididymis and their connections
- Head over upper end of testis connected by efferent ductules
- Body main part along posterior border of testis
- Tail connected to vas deferens
List constituents of spermatic cord
3 arteries: testicular artery, cremastric artery, artery of vas
3V: vas deferens, venous plexus, vestige of processus vaginalis
3 nerves: genital branch of genitofemoral, sympathetic plexus around testicular artery, sympathetic plexus around artery of vas
3L: loose areolar tissue, lymphatics from testis & from epididymis
Artery of vas arises from…….
Superior vesical artery
List coverings of spermatic cord
- Internal spermatic fascia from fascia transversalis
- Cremaster muscle & fascia continuation of inner abdominal oblique
- External abdominal oblique from aponeurosis of external abdominal oblique
Bulb of penis contains…….
Spongy urethra
Crura of penis are attached to……
Everted borders of pubic arch
