how to change MODE
(button in center of Quick Control Dial-2)- press mode and can change with any dial. thumb wheel button.
Name the NINE modes
P, Tv, Av, Fv, M, Bulb, C1p, C2p, C3p
P
camera sets Aperture and Shutter Speed. Use main dial to do program shift which adjust both at the same time. Use Quick Control Dial-1 to make brighter or darker (Exp Comp).
Tv
You control shutter speed with the main dial. Camera control Aperture. Good to set the ISO to auto in this mode.
Av
You control Aperture with the main dial. Camera control Shutter Speed. Small number (f1.4) = Shallow Depth of field. Large number (f22) = Large Depth of Field.
Fv
You can control Aperture, Shutter, ISO, Exp Comp. Use Quick Control-2 to shift thru each, you can use Main dial to change the values. Press the garbage can button to set it to AUTO or hold the button to set all to AUTO. Orange “half wheel” indicates which value is selected.
M-anual
Full Control. Main Dial controls Shutter, Quick Dial-1 controls Aperture, No Exp Comp meter is displayed in this mode.
Clockwise to brighten, counterclockwise to dull on exp-triangle.
Bulb
for long exposure. Main Dial or Quick Control-1 controls the Aperture. Press and hold shutter button and that’s how long it stays open.
C1p, C2p, C3p
Custom preset a setting (Register, Clear, Update). Setup the camera how you want and go to “Setup Menu-5” and “Custom Shooting Mode”
How to change ISO
Press M-Fn and adjust with Main Dial
How to change METERING
(press button on top, back, left). Use main dial to change.
Name the four METERING zones
Evaluative, Center Weighted, Partial, Spot
Evaluative metering
384 zones, entire area of screen. Most common. Largest area.
Center Weighted
Large central area. Not commonly used. 2nd largest.
Partial metering
medium center area, such as face. About 6% of viewfinder.
3rd largest.
