Q

What is the analysis in the quotes “but nothing happens”

A

-Repetition reflects monotony of war, (at the start it may seem relieving but quickly becomes frustrating as concern sets)
-shows we have learned little from conflict and are doomed to repeat the same mistakes

Q

Good comparison to Exposure:

A

Prelude: In E nature is merciless and brutal- more so than war itself. Yet in P, it’s a nurturing mother figure that is also powerful.

Remains: the various different realities of war and the deaths that can arise: In R. It’s violence between humans, in E it’s the nature’s violence against the soliders. -In conflict, violence and suffering is inescapable and it’s in everything (could reflect the paranoia/PTSD of fighting where mentally everything can feel dangerous even afterwards)

Q

(Not sure of this:) what do all quotes subvert?

A

Expectations of war ,e.g.
-people thing people are the deadliest but it’s nature
-people think war is a constant stream of action and attack but it’s really monotonous (“but nothing happens”)
