exersise Flashcards
exercise increases the
heart rate
the muscles are made up of what cells
muscle cells
the muscles use what to what
oxygen to release energy
they relases energy from using
glucose
when exercising
the muscles contract through glucose
an increase of exercise will require
more oxygen and glucose
also more …………………………will be removed
carbon dioxied
physical activity dose 4 things what are they ?
increase breathing rate
breath more deaply
increase the rate at which your heart pumps
dilutes the artries
glycogen is used during exersice and is stored as
glycogen NOT GLUCOSE
glycogen is stored where
the liver
but what do each muscle do
have there own store of glycogen
during exersis what is used up
glucose
if glucose runs out what do the muscles rely on
glycogen stores
when the glycogen levels run low then the muscles
dont get energy and will stop contracting and and get tired
anaeribic respiration is where
there is no or little oxygen
when you exersise you body cant always supply ………..
oxygen
if there is no oxygen the the glucose is broken down and creates
lactic acid
if there is no oxygen getting to the muscles then the muscles have to respire
anaerobically
the word equation for lactic acid
glucose ——–>energy +lactic acid
why is this not the best way of producing energy
it builds up lactic acid which gets painful
another down side is
it dosnt produce as much energy
an advantage is that it allows
your muscles to work for longer
anerobic respiration can lead to
oxygen dept
oxygen dept is where
you have to repay the the muscles oxygen
you have to repay as your heart lungs and blood couldnt
keep up
what do you do after exercise if you have oxygendept
you breath hard
what dose your abrain detect
high levels of co2 and lactic acid
what is done to solve this
pilse is raised and the breathing rate increases
