  4. 1-2xA; SOOB 3x1hr, walk 5-10m with aid

  6. Encourage independent mobility with frame or crutches

Arthroscopy limitations

A
  • Chondroplasty = nil specific
  • Osteoplasty = limit excessive WB for first few days
  • Lateral release = encourage flexion despite pain
  • Menisectomy = nil specific
  • Meniscus repair = avoid flexion > 90, WB restricted 6/52, avoid squatting 6/52

  • Start with closed chain, PROM stretches and Isom
  • Stage 1- 0-4/52 = reduce swelling, ROM, quads activation
  • Stage 2- 4-16/52 = SLS, strength, neuromuscular control
  • Stage 3- 6/52-6/12 = technique (run, jump, land), agility, full strength and balance
  • Stage 4- 6-9/12 = RTS plyometrics
  • RTS dictated by surgeon
  • Re-injury/prevention important to consider- FIFA 11

  • Pendulums day 1- 6/52
  • Active assisted ROM day 8-6/52 (ER/IR, F/Ex)
  • Hand behind back towel stretch (6-12/52)

  • Straight arm raise, wall crawls active assisted elevation, occasional overhead work (3-6/12)
