Exercise Flashcards
What impacts do exercise have in breathing rates?
- Breathe deeper
- Breathe faster
Why does breathing rate change with exercise?
Body uses more energy
Respiration needs to occur faster
More oxygen is required
Design an experiment to investigate the effect of exercise on breathing rate.
You need:
A stopwatch
Another person
Paper
Pencil
Method:
Write down age, weight and height.
Use stopwatch to measure starting breathing rate for 1 minute. Write this down.
Use stopwatch.Person A Do high knees for one minute. Person B needs to count number of breaths takes during this time period and write this down. During 1st minute of rest, Person B needs to count breaths and note this down. Repeat the previous step until breathing rate is back to normal. For best results, repeat the experiment 3 times.
Why do breathing rates change during and after exercise? Mention respiration.
As people exercise, they require more energy. For them to get more energy, repsration needs to occur. For respiration to occur faster, more oxygen is required, so breathing rate increases. After exercise, the body is still respiring quickly, so the breathing rate goes does slowly.
