key features of mammalian exchange system
nasal cavity trachea bronchus bronchioles alveoli
name 2 ways of measuring lung capacity and how they work
spirometer= measure lunch volume and breathing patterns
peak flow meter= measures rate at which air can be expelled
name and define components of lunch volume
tidal volume= volume of air that moves in during resting breath
vital capacity= volume of air that can be breathed in with strongest breath after strongest exhale
inspiratory reserve volume= max air you can breathe in after normal inhalation
expiratory reserve volume= max air you can breathe put after normal (tidal volume) exhale
residual volume= amount of air left in lungs after harvest exhale
total lunch capacity= sum of vital capacity+ residual vol
define ventilation rate
total volume of air inhaled in 1 min
tidal vol X breathing rate
