- Thermometer’s bulb can’t touch bottom or sides of Bkr
- Don’t stir anything thermometer
Measuring Temperature 4
Read thermometer while still in water
Measuring Volume 1
Use burette, graduated cylinder, or pipetter
Measuring Volume 2
Red coloured water + graduated cylinder. Don’t fill top
Measuring Volume 3
Measure volume bottom meniscus, eye at same level as liquid surface
Measuring Volume 4
Read meniscus from bottom
Testing Odors Safely 1
- Waft hand over test tube
- Carefully sniff fumes
Testing Odors Safely 2
Don’t inhale fumes directly
Testing Odors Safely 3
- Use fume hood in case poisonous or irritating fumes are evolved
- Don’t waft
Trasnferring Liquids 1
- Use finger’s back remove Erlenmeyer’s stopper
- Don’t place it workbench
Trasnferring Liquids 2
Hold stopper w/ fingers
Trasnferring Liquids 3
- Bkr “A” + stirring rod
- Pour green liquid
Trasnferring Liquids 4
Hold stirring rod against Erlenmeyer’s lip
Trasnferring Liquids 5
Pour Erlenmeyer’s green liquid into Bkr “A” slowly down stirring rod
Trasnferring Liquids 6
Replace Erlenmeyer’s stopper
Trasnferring Liquids 7
Red coloured water from graduated cylinder into test tube
Decanting and Filtration 1
Test tube w/ red liquid + tbsp pepper
Decanting and Filtration 2
Place stopper Ttb’s top, shake
Decanting and Filtration 3
Wait pepper sink bottom
Decanting and Filtration 4
Decant supernatant liquid w/ other Ttb
Decanting and Filtration 5
Bkr “B” + 100 mL water + tbsp pepper
Decanting and Filtration 6
Move Bkr “B” w/ stirring rod, leave pepper separated clear fluid
Decanting and Filtration 7
- Bkr “C” + stirring rod
- Should touch Bkr’s wall
Decanting and Filtration 8
Hold stirring rod against Bkr “B”’s lip containing supernatant liquid
Decanting and Filtration 9
- Pour liquid
- Run down rod into Bkr “C”
Decanting and Filtration 10
- Iron ring + ring stand
- Irong ring + SprFnn
(Prepare system)
Decanting and Filtration 11
SprFnn + 50 mL water + 50 mL alcohol
Decanting and Filtration 12
Place Bkr under SprFnn
Decanting and Filtration 13
- Open SprFnn
- Transfer water to Bkr
Decanting and Filtration 14
Close SprFnn until there’s blue alcohol
Decanting and Filtration 15
- Iron ring + ring stand + clay triangle + funnel
(Prepare separatory system)
Decanting and Filtration 16
- Funnel + filter paper
- Pour Bkr “C”’s liquid through filter paper
- Catch unsinked pepper
Trasporting Balance 1
Check all riders @ zero
Trasporting Balance 2
- Check if balance has lock mechanism
- Check it’s on
Trasporting Balance 3
- One hand under balance
- Other beam’s support
Trasporting Balance 4
Properly carry to work area, then back
Measuring w/ Balance 1
- All riders @ zero
- Check pointer move freely and equally along scale
- Wait until stops zero
- Use AdjCrw equalizing movement
Measuring w/ Balance 2
- Object massed + wax paper + pan
- Never hot objects directly
- Never chemicals directly
- Container’s mass - total mass = object’s mass
Measuring w/ Balance 3
- Move riders, beginning largest
- Beams notched, check if riders notched before measuring
- Swing should move = distance U & D zero point
Measuring w/ Balance 4
Σ Masses = object’s mass
Using Burette 1
Place clamps @ middle ring stand
Using Burette 2
Place burette, carefully, into clamps
Using Burette 3
Colored water + burette
Using Burette 4
Place Bkr under burette
Using Burette 5
Move stopcock avoid or allow water flow
Using Pipette 1
Place bulb @ pipette’s tap
Using Pipette 2
Absorb coloured water from Bkr
Using Pipette 3
Expel coloured water into Erlenmeyer Flask
