from site of entry to blood stream
what is distribution?
drug molecules move from blood throughout the body
what is metabolism?
breakind down the drug into metabolites
what is excretion?
removal of the drug and or metabolites from the body
what organ handles excretion?
kidney
what is the order from slowest to quicker absorption?
oral, rectal, sub cutaneous, intramuscular, buccal/sublingual, endotracheal/inhaled, intravenous
what are iatrogenic effects?
development of disorder through drug therapy
what is an example of iatrogenic effects?
cancer patient receiving chemo gets neutropenia

what is the idiosyncratic effect?
unusual or peculiar respsone to a drug
what is an additive effect?
drugs with similar MOA produce a greater effect
what is synergistic displacement?
drugs with different MOA potentiate each other
what is the antagonistic effect?
combined drugs negate each other
what is interference?
one drug interferes with metabolism of other drug and builds up in the system leading to toxicity
