Aware of person, place, time, & situation.
E.g., Aware of full name, location, date, & reason they are there.
Sustained attention:
Maintaining attention on one or more activity or stimulus for a long period of time.
E.g., taking a test, writing a paper.
Selective Attention:
Focusing on one or more stimuli while other stimuli are ignored.
– Tuning out external, environmental stimuli.
– E.g., reading in a noisy coffee shop.
Divided attention:
Focusing on two or more stimuli at a time–multitasking.
–E.g., cooking while parenting; walking & talking on phone.
Shifting attention:
Shifting attention from one task to another, enabling us to engage in multiple tasks seemingly at once.
– E.g., Scrolling on phone, shifting to watching T.V., back & forth.
