Trigeminal Neuralgia

ALWAYS taper off, do not stop abruptly

declomycin
blocks effects of ADH, allowing more dilute urine
Diabetes Insipidus

antithyroid drugs-
propylthiouracil (PTU)
methimazole (Tapazole)
Hypothyroidism
lifelong thyroid replacement such as levothyroxine
SE: increase effects of anticoagulants & digitalis
Adverse: may increase myocardial O2 demand –> angina, cardiac dysrhythmias
basline apical HR & BP; report any chest pain/nervousness
Cushing syndrome
Corticosteroid therapy
Do not abruptly stop!!
Antiinflammatory
Monitor for hyperglycemia - steroids increase hepatic production of insulin and cortisol-induced resistance to insulin
SE: infections (lowers threshold), mood swings, osteoporosis, elevated glucose, GI upset
