Stages of freudian development
Oral Anal Phalic Latency Genital
Freud : birth to 1 year
Oral stage
Freud 1-3 yrs
Anal stage - toilet training
Freud 3-6 yrs
Phallic stage ; adopt same sex parent’s characteristics/values
Freud age 6-11 yrs
Latency stage. Acquire social values, relationships w same sex peers.
Adolescence - freud
Genital stage. Sexual impulses towards others
Parent is a secure base and child can use to explore
Secure attachment
Child is unresponsive to parent and is usually not distressed
Avoidant attachment
Child seeks closeness, fails to explore, may appear mad or upset

Child shows the greatest insecurity, may appear confused, dazed, flat, odd postures
