What is a Meander?
A decorative border constructed by a continuous line.
The shape would form a motif.
What type of fabric did the Greeks use?
They used linen, wool, silk, and cotton.
MOST COMMON: linen and wool!!
Is spinning and weaving considered to be a noble position?
YES!

What color was Grecian costumes?
They were all kinds of colors!
Although, we do not know a specific color. They are NOT all white.
What is a Chiton?
Similar to a tunic, but does not have any seams.
- It’s secured at the shoulder with pins and at the waist with a belt.
- Fabric blouses over the belt
What is a Himation?
A large rectangular piece of fabric that wraps around the body
What is a Chlamy?
A rectangular cloak of leather r wool pinned at the shoulder.
What is a Perizoma?
A fancy name for lion cloth
What is a Diplex?
A small rectangle fabric that drapes the same as a himation
What is a Chlamydon?
A more complicated version for the women’s diplex.
AKA fabric pleated into the band
What is a Petasos?
A hat with a wide brim
What is a PIlos?
A narrow brimmed or non- brimmed hat
What is a Phrygian Bonnet?
A cap that’s padded high with a peak.
- Generally falls forward,
What did the Greeks wear for footwear?
Men and Women both wore sandals
