Ewing’s Sarcoma description
YOUNG/ADULT (10-25 yo) Marrow cell tumor; “round cell”; UNcommon in blacks
Ewing’s Sarcoma SX
pain, swelling; local warmth, tenderness, dilated veins; often palpable soft tissue mass, mimics infection
Ewing’s Sarcoma location
Long bones (70% - Femur, tibia, fibula, humerus); diaphysis is classic location. Flat bones (25% - Pelvis, ribs, scapula)
Spine (only 5%)
Cortical saucerization
Ewing’s Sarcoma plain film
mixed (permeative/lytic), wide zone of transition; laminated periosteal response in 25-50% (this all just describes a primary malignancy) - - so without lab findings, we’d choose osteosarcoma

LAB: fever, anemia, leukocytosis, ↑ ESR (mimics infection); MC 1° malignant bone tumor to metastasize to bone; metastasis to lungs common
