What is a systematic review?
A study that uses set criteria to find, appraise and summarise all research (published or not) to answer a specific question
What is the cochrane oral health review group?
An international network preparing, maintaining and disseminating systematic reviews of randomised controlled trials in oral health

What is a cross sectional study?
Examining a sample to give a snapshot of the population

What is a cohort study?
Identifying 2 groups (cohorts) of patients, one which receives the exposure of interest and one which doesn’t, and following these cohorts forwards to assess the outcome of interest.
What is a case control study?
A study which involves identifying patients who have the outcome of interest (case) and patients who don’t have the outcome (control) and seeing if they had exposure of interest.
What is epidemiology?
The study of the distribution and determinants of disease
