Likenhurst and Perkins (2003) adolescents told majority of their peers don’t smoke led to less likely to take up smoking. Suggests High ecological validity and useful real life applications

Some people less likely to conform to NSI don’t feel need to be liked (affiliators). McGhee and tevathon (1967) students who care less about being liked didn’t conform as much. NSI doesn’t account for individual differences it is too nomethetic in nature.
