Hofling et al. Obedience amongst nurses from a doctor. Researcher telephoned ward pretended to be doctor. Administer patient with 20mg astroten. Against rules. 21/22 nurses followed fake order. This suggests Milgram’s results are ecological valid.

Orne and Holland (1968). Ppts of social influence studies learnt to distrust. Experimenter was cool and calm despite harm led ppts to suppose no harm.

A

Ppts showed signs of distress: trembling, biting lip, digging finder nails into skin and seizures in 3. 70% believed learner was receiving shocks. Mean 13.4/14 pain of last few shocks.
