Describe the 5 stages of eutrophication
A
- fertiliser reaches into bodies of water
- nitrates causes rapid algal bloom
- dense algal growth blocks sunlight - plants and algae die and are decomposed
- decomposers use oxygen in aerobic respiration
- water becomes anoxic - animals die
- (leading to a decrease in biodiversity)
