Ethics in Test Results Flashcards
ANOVA (analysis of variance)
a hypothesis-testing procedure that is used to evaluate mean differences between two or more treatments (or populations)
what is the major advantage of ANOVAs
it can be used to compare two or more treatments
Regression
a statistical procedure that determines the equation for the straight line (regression line) that best fits a specific set of data
HARKing (hypothesizing after results known)
Occurs when a researcher observes a result that they did not originally hypothesize, but nonetheless makes the claim that the observed results supports their hypothesis
p - Hacking
Occurs when a researcher attempts to find a significant result by running every possible analysis with their data without having clear apriori predictions
